Eligibility Requirements:

Any person holding the degree of Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Philosophy or its equivalent who has demonstrated a major and continued interest in nephrology. In judging the eligibility of a candidate for active membership, the following shall be considered: 

1.  Clinical training in Nephrology; or

2.  Significant clinical experience as a specialist and consultant in kidney disease and related conditions;

Any member of the Canadian Association of Pediatric Nephrologists (CAPN) is eligible to apply for active membership in the Canadian Society of Nephrology. 

Any person holding the degree of Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Philosophy or its equivalent who has demonstrated a major and continued interest in nephrology. In judging the eligibility of a candidate for active membership, the following shall be considered:

1. Clinical training in pediatric Nephrology; or

2. Significant clinical experience as a specialist and consultant in pediatric kidney disease and related conditions; AND

1. Acceptable research training in a kidney-related field

2. Publication of at least one meritorious paper in the field of nephrology

Trainee membership is free during your fellowship.

After you finish your fellowship, the CSN will then also provide you with 2 full free years in the MD membership category.


This membership plan is available to MD trainees in accredited nephrology programs in Canada, non-MD nephrology research trainees in Canada, and to nephrologists in any accredited clinical or non-clinical training program in Canada.

If you are not in a training program in Canada, please sign up for the Associate Corresponding plan.

  • Individuals in an accredited nephrology fellowship or clinical/non-clinical research training program within a kidney-related field. Training must be taking place in Canada.
