Eligibility Requirements:

Any person holding the degree of Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Philosophy or its equivalent who has demonstrated a major and continued interest in nephrology. In judging the eligibility of a candidate for active membership, the following shall be considered: 

1.  Clinical training in Nephrology; or

2.  Significant clinical experience as a specialist and consultant in kidney disease and related conditions;


Benefits of membership include:

  • Group membership in ISN: including electronic access to Kidney International and eligibility for ISN funding programs
  • Access to the members-only area of the CSN website with links to practice guidelines, educational content, job postings and case discussions.
  • Entitled to receive notice of, attend and vote at all meetings of the Members of the Corporation.
  • Discounted rates to attend the annual CSN meeting, CSN in America and post-graduate educational course.
  • Board eligibility and able to run for office

Eligibility Requirements:

Any member of the Canadian Association of Pediatric Nephrologists (CAPN) is eligible to apply for active membership in the Canadian Society of Nephrology. 

Any person holding the degree of Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Philosophy or its equivalent who has demonstrated a major and continued interest in nephrology. In judging the eligibility of a candidate for active membership, the following shall be considered:

1. Clinical training in pediatric Nephrology; or

2. Significant clinical experience as a specialist and consultant in pediatric kidney disease and related conditions; AND

3. Member of CAPN


Benefits of membership include:

  • Group membership in ISN: including electronic access to Kidney International and eligibility for ISN funding programs

Any person holding a Doctor of Philosophy or its equivalent, who has demonstrated a major and continued interest in nephrology. In judging the eligibility of a candidate for active membership, the following shall be considered: 

1. Acceptable research training in a kidney related field

2. Publication of at least one meritorious paper in the field of nephrology


Benefits of membership include:

  • Entitled to receive notice of, attend and vote at all meetings of the Members of the Corporation.

  • Individuals in an accredited nephrology fellowship or Master/Doctorate of Science program within a kidney-related field.
  • Associate (Trainee) may not vote, serve on the Board of Directors or hold office.

Eligibility Requirements:

A small number of previous Members who have made significant contributions to the Corporation and have now retired from active clinical practice and/or research.

Associate (Honorary) are not required to pay their dues and may not vote, serve on the Board of Directors or hold office.
