If you have not renewed your CSN Membership for 2023, click here to log into your CSN member profile to renew your CSN Membership for 2023. After you have renewed your membership, you can register for the AGM through your CSN Membership dashboard.

Notification must be received no later than April 7th, 2023, and will be refunded in full, less a $75.00 handling fee. Notifications received between April 8th to April 30th, 2023, will be refunded 50%. No refunds on notifications received after April 30th, 2023.

This year's CANA Summit takes place on Tuesday May 9th in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The fee for attendance is $150 and includes a reception/dinner on May 9th at 18:00 ADT.

1. Provide a state-of-the-art program in keeping with the identified educational needs and interests of our members

2. Share key updates in kidney diseases and their management including glomerulonephritis novel therapies and their application, review of top papers of 2022, and updates in anemia management in patients with CKD.

3. Highlight novel research outcomes in clinical, translational, and basic research in nephrology by early career nephrologists and trainees through mini-free communications sessions and spotlight on new investigators TED Talks

4. Continue to foster collaboration between clinical adult nephrologists and other groups with similar clinical and research goals including basic scientists, pediatric nephrologists, allied health team members, and patient partners

5. Promote an environment that helps spark research collaborations and foster close working relationships amongst our members through vibrant networking opportunities

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

The CSN Annual General Meeting and Pre-Course is designed for physicians in academic and community-based practice settings who are interested in the clinical and research aspects of nephrology. The meeting content has been developed using feedback from CSN membership responses to the recent Needs Assessment survey. The program is to encourage the exchange of new scientific and clinical information and support an interchange of opinions regarding care and management of chronic kidney disease, dialysis, end-stage renal disease, hemodialysis, hypertension, nephrolithiasis, living donor, etc.

ACCREDITATION

This event is an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification program of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and approved by the Canadian Society of Nephrology (CSN).

There will be two sessions that will be providing Section 3 credits
Those sessions are Accredited Self-Assessment Program (Section 3) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and approved by the Canadian Society of Nephrology.

NAME BADGES

Meeting registrants are required to wear their name badges in order to gain entry to the sessions and social activities.

OFFICIAL LANGUAGE

The official language of the meeting is English. There will be no simultaneous translation during the meeting.

CLIMATE

Halifax gets warmer during May, the average temperature is 15°C ranging from a minimum of 7°C to a maximum of 20°C.

PERSONAL INSURANCE

The registration fees DO NOT include provisions for the insurance of participants against personal injuries, sickness, theft, or property damage. This also applies to any event held during the meeting period. Participants and accompanying persons are advised to arrange for insurance they consider necessary. Neither CSN, nor its sponsors, committee members, or staff assumes any responsibility for loss, injury, or damage to persons or belongings, whatever the cause may be.

You are invited to submit your abstracts for the 54th CSN Annual General Scientific "In-Person" Meeting".

All submissions will be considered for e-poster presentation and may be eligible for special awards.  In addition, the top abstracts will be selected for free communications within the 2.5 day program, and trainee presentations will be eligible for prizes.

Pre-Course


  • The Pre-Course is taking place May 9-10 and is available complimentary to active CSN Trainee members who are fellows and/or residents that register to attend the CSN AGM 2023 meeting.
    If you are not a Trainee and wish to attend the pre-course, additional fees will apply when you complete your AGM registration.
  • The deadline to register to attend the Pre-Course is Friday, April 7th.
  • Plan your arrival in Halifax, NS for the evening of Monday, May 8th as the meeting begins early the next morning.
  • Transportation from the airport to the Oak Island Resort & Conference Centre on May 8th and transportation from Oak Island to Halifax for the AGM 2023 meeting, will be provided by CSN for all registered participants to the Pre-Course.
  • Your hotel reservation at the Oak Island Resort hotel will be made by the CSN Admin Office once you provide them with your travel information.  Hotel accommodation is provided to Trainee members by CSN.  For non-trainee members, you will be required to provide the credit card information to the CSN Admin Office to guarantee your hotel reservation at the Oak Island Resort.

Section 1 (Group Learning)

For specialists certified with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC):  The CSN 2021 Virtual Meeting is an Accredited Group Learning Activity (Section 1) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and approved by the Canadian Society of Nephrology.  You may claim a maximum of 11.5 hours.

Section 3 (Self-Assessment)

The Evening Symposia on Wednesday May 12th and the Lunch Symposia on Thursday May 13th, are two activities that are Accredited Self-Assessment Program (Section 3) as defined by the Maintenance of Certification Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and approved by the Canadian Society of Nephrology.  You may claim a maximum of 3 hours for each activity.  There will be two (2) sessions available. (credits are automatically calculated).

Conflicts of Interest

Conflicts of Interest


A conflict of interest may be considered to exist if a speaker in an annual meeting program is affiliated with or has a financial interest in, commercial organizations that may have a direct or indirect interest in the subject matter of his/her presentation.

A “financial interest” may include, but is not limited to, being a direct shareholder in the organization; being on retainer with the organization; or having research or honoraria paid by the organization. An “affiliation” may be holding a position on an advisory committee or some other role of benefit to a sponsoring organization.

The intent of this disclosure requirement is not to prevent a speaker with a conflict of interest from making a presentation but to make known the relationship, in advance, to the audience. It is intended that any conflict be openly identified so that with full disclosure of the facts, attendees may form their own judgments about the presentation.
