Academic Clinical Nephrologist Competition No - A100616303 Closing Date - position will remain open until filled The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Division of Nephrology and Immunology in partnership with Alberta Health Service are inviting applications for an Academic Clinical Track Nephrologist. The successful candidate must be certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada with an MD, FRCPC or equivalent and will be appointed to a tenure track position at the University of Alberta. Nephrology and Immunology at the University of Alberta is a research-intensive Division, currently with 9 CIHR funded investigators. Research spans the spectrum from fundamental and transitional work through epidemiology and health services research in general Nephrology and Transplantation Immunology. The Division considers education a high priority and provides leadership to the educational and administrative activities of the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Alberta Health Services, the Alberta Medical Association, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. The Division of Nephrology and Immunology consists of 18 full-time academic staff and 13 clinical faculty members; 22 members of the Division are located at the University of Alberta site. Innovative clinical and clinical research programs address the unique challenges of our very large geographic catchment area. Under the umbrella of the Northern Alberta Renal Program (NARP), Nephrologists in the Division are responsible for the care of patients in the largest renal failure program administered by any single centre in Canada; the Director of NARP is also a member of the Division. Division members located at the Royal Alexandra Hospital and the Grey Nuns Hospital largely regulate their own clinical/professional affairs, but also deliver clinical care to renal failure patients under the NARP umbrella. Specific responsibilities of this position will include clinical service, research, undergraduate and postgraduate education, and some administration depending upon the candidate's qualifications and interest. The time distribution for various activities will depend upon the candidate's qualifications and interests and divisional need.
