This section contains information related to ongoing education of members of the society. While there is overlap with some other sections, this section will contain information related to activities of the CSN Education Committee, and to the Maintenance of Competence Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Note that clinical cases in this section of the web site are available for all people browsing this site to read and respond to. Go to the members' case studies for cases directed only to CSN members.

UKIDNEY.COM: This is an educational web site put together by Dr. Jordan Weinstein at the University of Toronto. The site has been completely redesigned and migrated to a new platform. While you might recognize some of the content, UKidney has now joined the Web 2.0 ranks. I invite you all to visit this site at your convenience. Many new features include:

1. A robust user management system, complete with a single login. No more entering your name over again to access content
2. Polls relevant to nephrology
3. Active news feeds bringing you the latest information in nephrology
4. More dynamic presentations including a new way to navigate slide shows. You may also now provide feedback for these presentations.
5. YouTubule, our nephrology educational video library continues to grow

Coming soon soon to UKidney:

WikiBean: The worlds first collborative nephrology textbook! This will be a medical educational first and I invite you all to paticipate once this feature is officially launched.

The site contains the following:

1. Presentations: Lectures in PowerPoint format have been converted to secure Flash movies, viewable on virtually any computer. The library of lectures is growing weekly. They originate from the Fellowship lecture series (UHN, Wednesday afternoons) and from various resident and staff presentations selected for their quality and relevance.
2. Journal resources: This section contains dynamic feeds from various journals and news services, focusing on developments in Nephrology. This content is updated weekly.
3. House-staff: These references from the UHN and St. Michael's Hospital can be accessed here.
4. eGFR calculator: A handy eGFR calculator for your reference.
5. Exam: A pre-test and post-test is now hosted online to evaluate the impact of our teaching on the residents rotating through nephrology at different sites. These questions are adapted with permission from the MKSAP series. A username and password is required.

NEPHROLOGY NOW This is a new "mailing list", spearheaded by Dr. Daniel Schwartz, which will highlight papers published in the previous month, which have the largest potential to influence practice. This "meta-journal" of clinical nephrology will review a large selection of relevant journals both within and outside conventional Nephrology literature. The target audience is the group of Nephrology Trainees, but any practicing Nephrologist may also take advantage of this free service. The link is www.nephrologynow.com, and the most current issue can be found at www.nephrologynow.com/current.html. For more information, contact Dr. Schwartz at drdschwartz@gmail.com.

Nephrology Tools for Blackberry:   Dr. Daniel Schwartz and Chan Kruse have created tools for those who use Blackberrys, including a GFR calculator and related features. More information available at www.QxMD.com.
